The cool breeze and the fragrance of the wet landscape, creates a great atmosphere. It’s raining since last night in Surat and the clouds have given so much romantic touch to the city, that everyone seems to have come to get wet in the first rain after such long and terrible heatwave prevailed all over the state in last two months.
The first activity of Surtis with the first rain drop is to rush to Dumas beach to have Bhajiya party. The long waiting is certain before come the Bhajiya parcel in your hands. But that wait is worth, you will agree once you have it.
If one can’t reach Dumas, there’s Bhajiya outlet in every nooks and corner of the city. And every counter will be overcrowded to celebrate the first rain. That’s the welcome to the rain. That’s the reason why rain is happy to be in Surat, that it’s a history, every four years, rain water be the guest of the city and stays there for minimum three days and this waters never discriminate and go equally to the houses of rich and poor both.
But the rain and specially the first rain is loved by all and you see many people on street enjoying the rains. I am a hard-core fan of rain and monsoon. The long drive in rain is the best activity one can ever enjoy. The Dumas beach is a place where river Tapi meet the sea. It creates a heavenly atmosphere at beach in rain. Surat city and it’s residents are so fortunate to have many places within three hours drive to reach from beautiful beaches on arebian sea to high heels of Satpuda ranges.
Being a Surti, it is must to enjoy the first rain with full enthusiasm and have completed enjoyment right from Bhajiya to get wet and drained out to the fullest.
